Klarrio is a project agency specialized in building data platforms for customers to enable them to analyze and process the data.

We have been working on a wide range of projects in various domains such as Telecom, Smart Cities, Transport & Logistics, Innovative Technology Solution Providers, Public Infrastructure, … Check out some of our past and current projects and customers.

You will be part of the R&D team that delivers data platforms tailored to the needs of the customer in an agile manner. The development of these platforms requires a multidisciplinary team consisting of developers who are not afraid to take initiative and have an eye for quality. We believe in our in-house synergies between team members to create the best possible solution for our customers. Therefore we always work on a project basis and don’t do body shopping.

Your challenges and responsibilities:

  • Stay updated on emerging technologies, trends, and industry developments.
  • Conduct research and experimentation to prototype new ideas and solutions.
  • Drive innovation initiatives within the organization, contributing to product evolution and differentiation.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts for complex technical issues, providing timely resolution and root cause analysis.
  • Identify systemic issues and propose long-term solutions.
  • Contribute to the development of technical roadmaps and long-term strategies.
  • Advocate for the adoption of modern software engineering practices and methodologies.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and security practices.
  • Facilitate knowledge sharing sessions, workshops, and training programs.
  • Expected to grow others by being responsible for mentoring and building up the team’s culture. For example:
    • Knowledge sharing: write wiki’s, organize knowledge sharing presentations and meetings, …
    • Recruiting activities: assist by performing interviews, attending job fairs, …
    • Team activities: help organize drinks, social activities, bug bashes, …
    • Mentor and help other engineers to grow.
  • Be accountable for, and take ownership of the code that’s delivered by the team. Ensure cross-team alignment.
  • Conduct thorough code analysis and refactoring to optimize performance and readability.
  • Document best practices, lessons learned, and key insights to preserve organizational memory.
  • Contribute to project planning and estimation. Ensure the team plans in line with the priorities, technical requirements and direction.

Ideally, you possess the following qualifications:

  • Master’s degree, or equivalent practical experience, in Computer Science or a related technical field involving software/systems engineering.
  • Programming experience in either Go, Java, Scala, JavaScript, Rust, C, …
  • Knowledge of computer networking (TCP/IP, Firewalls, DNS, SSL, …).
  • Advanced understanding of Operating System concepts.
  • Advanced understanding of Unix/Linux operating systems.
  • Advanced understanding of database systems (SQL or NoSQL).
  • Ensure that others, while integrating, extending or consuming your deliverables, within yours and/or other teams are following the guidelines that are set by your team.
  • Be able to work on features and projects where the problem is clear, but the solution is not.
  • Effective collaboration with teams outside of development (for example: QA, DevOps, …).
  • Effective collaboration and mentoring abilities.
  • Leadership in code reviews.
  • In-depth knowledge of algorithms and data structures.
  • Ability to design complex software systems and architectures.
  • Affinity with, and interest in open source software and development.

Extra assets are:

  • Hands-on experience with data processing frameworks such as Kafka, Spark, Flink, Storm,…
  • Expertise in designing distributed systems.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, GCP, …
  • Affinity with the Agile development methodology and concepts such as CI/CD.
  • Experience with data lakes like Apache Hudi, Apache Iceberg, Delta Lake, …
  • Expertise in software architecture and design.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability and/or interest in teaching and/or creating courses for future engineers as part of our tutorrio academy program.
